Here's a funny story. This morning I woke up at 7:55 am and in a panic I quickly grabbed my phone to email my boss while still laying in bed:

"Sandi and Shannon took a vacation day. I'm supposed to come in and cover but I just woke up. I'll be right there! -Susan"

Immediately I got up, sat at the edge of my bed and thought to myself... "Shit.. wait a minute, I didn't do invoicing yet... is today Thursday or Friday?" I picked up my phone, tried to clear my vision from grogginess and looked at the date... "OMG it's THURSDAY!" I went back to the email I just sent to my boss and started typing:

"Just kidding. Today is Thursday. Oh gosh. I'll be there."

How embarrassing! I seriously woke up thinking it was Friday morning. It's my off Friday week. So if I didn't have to cover, I wouldn't have thought to send the email and would not have shown up to work at all! I'm really out of it this week. REALLY.

Oh well. I made it in 30 minutes late and have a weird story to tell I guess. What's funny is that right before I woke up I dreamt my boss told me "Oh it's okay Susan! It's quiet and slow today. You don't have to come in at all." Wow. Really.

From ESPN.COM

I am actually thinking about canceling social networking website accounts. One by one... but why is it so hard to click "Cancel Account?" I hardly ever log into MySpace anymore, and though I made it to the "Cancel Account" webpage, I couldn't get myself to click the button. Why?

It's got me thinking, you know? I want to cancel my YouTube account also. Actually, I want to go in and delete the videos. Let me go do that right now...

Okay. Done. I left two videos up for fun. They're short. Here is one for your amusement. Reposting "Rubber Dam"...

Haha!

Let me finish my other thought. All these accounts on the internet.. so public, but who gives a shit? Who's watching? Who cares? The people that I care about already know what's going on in my life. They already know my personality. I don't need to be putting it up on an invisible space out in the internet world. I'll leave it for those people who basque in the attention and fame.

Bit by bit I was pulling away socially from the outside world and kept it real and close to only the people I wanted to have in my life.

Social networking sites are great for connections--hence "networking." But I'm not the type to use this "resource" to find someone when I need something. In fact, I strongly dislike people who come to me only when they need something, and once they've gotten what they needed, I'm out of their mind in an instant.

I'm definitely growing up and am becoming more reserved and calm. I prefer quiet nights at home versus going out to bars and drinking my bank account dry. Hello! If you know me, you would know I never ever wanted to marry, especially have kids! What has come over me? I think about it almost daily... excited to meet my partnah, share life with him and start a family with him. It's a wonderful comfortable feeling.

Back to the original point. If I've come to this realization, then why couldn't I click "Cancel Account?" I will take it slowly... one site at a time. I will definitely hang on to Xanga and Facebook. But the rest...? They can go. Even on Facebook, I'm going to filter through my friends list. Hah... "friends." *Shakes heads* The term is thrown around so loosely, so freely, it almost makes me feel like I do have 363 friends---I just checked Facebook. They just termed it "Connections." That seems to make more sense...

Anyway. I should get to bed. I'm trying to get to work early in the morning after stopping by the grocery store to buy a watermelon for the potluck at work tomorrow. Yum...

More thoughts on this later. Ultimately, I feel these social networking sites and Twitter will further detach me from my friends and family and will shorten my thoughts, vocabulary... critical thinking... Xanga and Facebook is enough. Xanga to spill your heart out when you're passionate about something... or someone... and Facebook to keep these connections aLiiiive since, well, this IS the times. The current time. And it's amusing to read other people's thoughts and see their photos and watch through photos and status messages how these old "friends" are turning out. Oh... and these are great places to share both funny and lovely things to a large mass of people.

I think it will be difficult though. Although I know I can gradually convince myself to quit social networking sites, I doubt I can ever give up the internet. Horrible thought.

What I learned this past weekend:
  1. People with iPhones band together and attack person with Blackberry Curves. Three to one. No fair. And the only argument I have for Blackberry is Blackberry Messenger and MMS! iPhone people won't even take the MMS fault... they blame it on AT&T. Okay, fine!
  2. Transformers 2 is not fun to watch when your body is tired and sleepy and you fight falling asleep in the theater.
  3. I can wake up at 7:40, wash my face, brush my teeth, brush my hair, change my clothes, pick up a dozen donuts and drive to work with 1 minute to spare. WOW! That was an all-time record. It helped that there was no traffic at all on the freeways.
  4. CPR is now 2 breaths and 30 compressions, and you don't check for pulse anymore when you do the A-B-Cs of CPR.
  5. Hair product is expensive (but the expensive products smell so good)!
  6. Shopping for little things like hair pins, combs, brushes are fun. Putting them all into a big plastic container with lid and handle is also neat. I now have a travel-hair-do kit! Book me, baby--uhh, for hair appointments. Hah!
  7. Drinking once in awhile is fun when you're with people you like. Knowing what your limit is makes it more fun, because you're not feeling like crap later.
  8. Watching "The Hangover" the second time while on a really nice buzz is funnier than the first time.
  9. It's a nice feeling when someone you like wants to hang out with you.
  10. I can do two heads in 1.5 hours--heads of hair that is! Haaaha! Ok ok for real though... two hair-dos (one down-do and one up-do). I should have snapped flicks.
  11. Hanging out with mom is also fun.
  12. I am eggroll-rolling-master! I rolled 100 eggrolls Saturday afternoon, I must be master at it.
  13. No matter how good life is right now, when your best friend is going through stuff, you can't sleep.
  14. When you have a small bedroom, replacing large furniture with smaller furniture and creating hidden cabinet spaces are key to enlarging the appearance of your room. I like the new look. It's comfortable.
  15. Breaking into a nasty smelly sweat after rearranging your room deserves a nice long cool shower and it feels so damn good!
  16. Exfoliate once a week and apply lotion daily everywhere for fresh, soft skin all over, all the time.
  17. My Mom likes Reef sandals like me. I gave her my new pair (I bought extra).
  18. My favorite Michael Jackson song must be "Man in the Mirror"... and I like "Remember the Time" also.. and ok I like a lot.
  19. My favorite eyeliner at Macy's is more expensive than Sephora by a couple of dollars, but I didn't want to walk all the way to Sephora so that's what I get.
  20. 1.5 weeks later and I'm still peeling. Not a hot look at all, especially in this heat.
  21. Meeting people off of Xanga is still fun.
  22. Meeting Canadian Xangans are more fun! Hi Emily and Lisa!
  23. Meeting Canadian Xangans who travel quite often are even more fun! So many hilarious stories.
  24. Taking a walk around the block with someone you like is really sweet.
  25. Cats will follow you around for half the block. When you stop, it stops. When you walk, it walks with you. When you sit, it sits with you. Mind you, we are dog people, so it was quite a surprise for us.
  26. A great weekend makes for a great night of sleep Sunday night.
I like lists. And 26 is my favorite number.

Seriously Guys?! When did I mention I was getting married? I said it would be a good way to save money!

John, you can duke it out with Lisa for MOH.

Dararath, I will think about the option of shooting my own wedding. I'm clever like that. I can make it happen.

Linda, that was over months ago.

Andy, you might be right. Good thing I haven't spent too much on photography.

Anyway. I can't wait for the days of marriage. I can't wait to meet my pillow partner.
